YES they begin laying at 6 weeks old!

Japanese quail are easy to hatch and raise and make fantastic pets or table birds.

They are docile and easy to handle (not at all flighty)

One 20kg bag ($30) of game bird starter mix will raise Approx 70-80 chicks from hatch to table (6 weeks)

100 birds require around 2.5 to 3 square meters of floor space when raising.
