My handcrafted clay pot drums are fashioned from the Udu drums made by the Igbo People from Nigeria. The instrument has a few different names, abang and udu.

The clay pot drum is also played in parts of Ghana and recently versions have been made in Brazil and now in Australia.

Original handmade from various clay bodies, especially locally found and self processed. The clay pot drums are made traditionally, decorated individually and smoke fired to capture the life of the bloodwood. The motled pattern on the surface is individually created from dancing smoke swirling around the leaves on in the firing.
