IMPORTANT NOTE:
People selling un papered dogs will tell you that your puppy is safe- THIS IS NOT TRUE, unless you have individual ANKC papers for your puppy- your puppy is not classified as an american staffordshire terrier (even if your microchip papers states he is). Both parents can be papered, but unless you have your own individual papers for your puppy- your puppy can risk being classed as a restricted breed.

YOUR STATE BREED CLUBS OR CANINE COUNCILS CAN VERIFY THIS.

IMPORTANT HEALTH NOTE:
There are a number of health issues you need to look at when purchasing an amstaff puppy. An extremely important thing is ATAXIA.
What is ataxia?
One of the most serious disorders from which this breed suffers is called Hereditary Ataxia or Cerebellar Ataxia. This is a neurological disorder of a serious nature and as of yet there is no cure; it seems as if the gene governing the disorder is quite widespread in the breed and often avoiding the breeding of affected dogs is difficult due to the late onset of symptoms. Breeders who do not test may not know their dogs are carriers of affected. The symptoms generally dont show before 3 years of age.
The outcome of ataxia- as there is no cure, dogs are usually euthanized.

THERE IS A DNA TEST THAT BREEDERS USE TO DETERMINE IF THEIR DOGS ARE CLEAR, CARRIERS OR AFFECTED.
THERE IS NO EXCUSE NOT TO TEST.
