Riviera staged the world release of the most modern, sophisticated and elegant cruiser in its class, the new 50 Enclosed Flybridge in August 2013.

The design as always was based on boat owner input, gleaned and distilled over the past two years at specifically held owner forums. The new 50 Enclosed Flybridge is proving equally enticing as her big sister, the 53 Enclosed Flybridge.

Powered by a choice of Cummins Zeus or Volvo Penta IPS POD Drives, Riviera's new 50 Enclosed Flybridge was created in-house utilising Unigraphics 3D software. Riviera's team of talented international, passionate designers and engineers have focused on absolute maximisation of design and space. They have been able to see the exact size, space and scale of the vessel in the computer long before a single piece of material is cut for the plug work.

Riviera's design team have also retained that unique Riviera look while introducing some exciting new innovations.

New double side transom doors allow better access to or from the cockpit from both the port and starboard sides. There is new cockpit seating with an integrated table and enhanced cockpit storage with a central molded lazarette bin that has been integrated into the cockpit floor. Tender storage is on the boarding platform, side deck access has been enhanced, a new large aft C-shaped lounge runs the width of the flybridge are some of the many new and exciting design features of the new 50.

An internal staircase adjacent to the galley leads up to the impressive three-sided enclosed flybridge which features a helm station forward on the port side with an adjacent L-shaped lounge allowing guests to easily converse with the skipper. A wet bar is located behind the helm chair and aft in the flybridge is an enormous L-shaped lounge that runs almost the full beam of the flybridge, making it a great conversation and entertaining space not only when the boat is underway but also at anchor.

The vision from the enclosed flybridge is second to none.

The accommodation plan of the 50 offers new-found flexibility, whilst the two aft cabins offer full head room in very generously proportioned spaces.

Externally there are many attractive enhancements to the profile lines providing balance to the flybridge and saloon window profiles and large hull windows with opening port holes on both sides giving the two aft cabins an abundance of natural light and fresh air

The new 50 Enclosed Flybridge features a huge cockpit with aft barbecue centre or optional bait tank or fish bins. The barbecue is located aft in between the transom doors which give easy access to the 50, especially when rafted up with friends or when docked at the marina.

Two steps up from the cockpit and you enter the saloon through the full-length sliding glass door. To port there is a huge U-shaped modern galley with polished Corian solid surface benchtop, high quality stainless steel appliances and accouterments and luxe timber vinyl flooring. Forward of the galley is a U-shaped lounge and dinette to port and plush lounge to starboard.

In the middle of the starboard side lounge there is an ottoman that slides out and across to the port side to provide additional table seating. An optional table then can be folded out of the ottoman recess in the starboard lounge to create additional seated dining capacity for up to 10 people.

In a first for Riviera, there is the option to have the master stateroom forward or aft on the port side. The aft port side option offers a scenic outlook from the large hull window with optional opening porthole. This location for the master stateroom is in a quieter and more stable part of the boat being closer to the center of gravity. The full-width master stateroom forward option boasts hull windows either side, ample under bed storage, an elegantly crafted cedar-lined wardrobe, built-in bedside tables and a timber vanity.

With the option to select the master stateroom location you have the added bonus of a VIP guest stateroom that is every bit as luxurious as the master. Your friends and family will relish this new level of comfort. This of course means that the new 50 is also the perfect size for three couples or a large extended family. Yet for all the 50's enormous internal volume and space it will easily fit into a standard size marina berth with a hull length of 16.15 m (53' 1") and beam of 5.01 m (16' 5").

From the moment you step aboard the new 50 Enclosed Flybridge, you instantly enter a world of the most modern technology encased in time honored craftsmanship.

The Riviera design team has been very innovative with the internal plan providing exceptional accommodation without compromising the height or exterior profile lines of the boat. Externally, she is a very handsome boat indeed.

Acoustic fabric paneling creates a sense of calm and combined with satin varnished teak and American oak cabinetry gives a feel of contemporary elegance.

An optional washer/dryer is concealed behind varnished cabinetry in the starboard aft cabin.

Step below to the accommodation deck and you will sense immediately just how large this area is.

An additional 1.7 meters more of overall living space between the bow and stern has been made available through the utilisation of pod drives as compared to a similar sized shaft-driven boat.

All round this boat feels bigger and fuller than similar sized vessels, which can be attributed to the openness and an abundance of natural light.

From a technological point of view, the 50 Enclosed Flybridge features the latest in LED lighting and C-Zone digital switching, which allows you to control and monitor all your entertainment, electronics and lighting with a single button displayed on a touch screen.

Every engineering detail in the design and construction of this new model has been considered from the engine room with standing head room and its gleaming white gel coat finish making it spotlessly clean, to the location of the cockpit switch panel at eye-level.
